Something that can provide practical tips, fresh ideas, and great storytelling?

Then I’ve got just the thing for you — UX podcasts. And plenty of them too!

In this blog post, I’m introducing 11 top UX podcasts perfect for informing and entertaining your next design project.

I’m constantly amused by how much podcast content is available online now. It’s almost like being a kid in a candy store again, but this time it’s through my earbuds instead of chocolate sprinkles.

Whether you’re a UX designer, an aspiring entrepreneur or a business owner, these shows will surely give you invaluable insight and guidance into user experience design.

So turn it up (or stick on some earbuds) – let’s get listening!

1. Claire Freshney

Of course, I’d be crazy not to include my own podcast channel on the best UX podcast list!

Being an avid listener, I decided why not join the fray. I mean, it’s designed to get people thinking, so why not do it, right?

After all, it’s full of all kinds of stuff – discussions on trends in user experience, interviews with key influencers, and all kinds of cool stuff around UI elements.

From explaining the meaning of UX to others to reconsidering outdated design practices, you can listen and learn something new… every click of a button can bring you closer to better user experiences.

I’m excited to help a few of those users, one podcast episode at a time!

So yeah, no biggie or anything, but you bet your bottom dollar; I will also include my favourite channels on this list for sure!

Hosted by Jason Ogle, a UX designer and strategist, User Defenders features insightful interviews with some of the most talented UX designers and researchers.

Trust me, listening to these pros share their skills and experiences is like getting a masterclass in UX without leaving your house!

Not only is it jam-packed with practical advice from experienced UX designers, but the conversations are engaging, insightful, and often peppered with a good dose of humour.

From UX research to tips for advancing in your career, this podcast has it all. So, grab your headphones and prepare to be inspired by some of the industry’s top experts.

3. UX Podcast

You are seriously missing out if you haven’t checked out the UX Podcast yet.

James Royal Lawson and Per Axbom are the hosts with the most regarding providing a fresh perspective on UX design.

The best part? They do it all in a way that feels approachable and even a bit humorous at times.

Trust me; your ears will thank you.

4. NN/g UX Podcast (nielsen norman group)

Alright, folks, it’s time to tune in to another of my favourite UX design podcasts – the NN/g UX Podcast by Nielsen Norman Group.

Just something about the casual shop talk and humorous banter between hosts Sarah Gibbons and Therese Fessenden makes each episode a joy to listen to.

And let’s not forget about the incredible insights into UX strategy and design thinking they offer.

With new episodes dropping regularly, I always have something to look forward to during my morning jogs. Trust me, listen to it, and you’ll be hooked too!

5. Design Matters

If there’s one thing you’ve got to know about me, I’m a total design geek.

So, it’s no surprise I’ve been listening to the Design Matters podcast lately!

If you’re looking for a fun and approachable way to get your UX design craves, this is for you.

Host Debbie Millman is an absolute boss in the design world, and each episode features fascinating interviews with some of the biggest creatives.

New episodes constantly drop, so you’ll never run out of content to soak up.

From learning about the design process to the wacky and wonderful ways these designers started, this podcast is truly a joy to listen to. Highly recommend!

8. What Is Wrong with UX?

If you’re anything like me, you’re always looking for a solid UX design podcast to feed your insatiable hunger for knowledge.

Now, I’ve listened to my fair share of them, but let me tell you: the What is Wrong with UX podcast stands head and shoulders above the rest.

A duo of seriously creative people runs it, and they have the most interesting guests come on to talk all things UX. It’s like sitting down with friends and hashing out some of the most frustrating (and hilarious) aspects of UX design.

Not only do they have some seriously interesting guests, but they also have some honest UX talks that are refreshingly approachable. They don’t sugarcoat anything, and it’s refreshing as heck.

So, if you’re looking for a podcast to keep you entertained and informed on your daily commute or while you work, give them a listen. Trust me; you won’t regret it.

9. UX Research Geeks

So, confession time: I’m a total user research geek.

I’m stoked to tell you about the UX Research Geeks podcast.

It’s a weekly podcast where enthusiastic and knowledgeable folks discuss user research. But don’t let the geekiness fool you!

The hosts are super approachable and hilarious. Seriously, they’re the type of people you’d want to grab a beer with to talk about design culture and the latest UX topics.

It’s like being part of a cool and inclusive design community – but from the comfort of your earbuds.

So, if you’re even semi-interested in user research, you should listen to this podcast. Who knows, you might just become a UX research geek like me!

10. 99% Invisible

If you’re into product design, podcasts, and actionable knowledge, you’ve probably already heard of the 99% Invisible podcast series hosted by the one and only Roman Mars.

As a fan of the show, I can honestly say that I’ve learned a ton about everything, from the history of UI UX design to the hidden details of everyday objects we often take for granted.

But what I love most about 99% Invisible is Roman’s casual, humorous, and approachable tone of voice.

He’s like that cool friend you have who always seems to know the latest and greatest trends in design, but he’s also down-to-earth enough to explain things in a way that even the most design-challenged among us can understand.

So if you’re ready to dive headfirst into the fascinating world of product design, I highly recommend giving 99% Invisible a listen.

11. Revision Path

Have you heard of the Revision Path podcast?

It’s worth checking out if you’re into visual design, game design, and tech-hosted. They have some amazing guests who dive into the design details.

And let me tell you, the conversations are never dry or boring. You’ll feel like you’re sitting right alongside hosts Maurice and Brittain as they explore the world of design.

No wonder they’ve become such a popular podcast hosted by two fantastic individuals.

So make sure to give them a listen and prepare to be entertained and enlightened!
